There are several criteria of fracture and damage of metals which are often used in investigations of cracks dynamics. Here, an energetic approach for the formulation of the energy facture criterion based on the accumulated energy amount is employed. The effectiveness of the criterion obtained is demonstrated by a numerical investigation of failure processes in the form of multivariate originating cracks in AISI 304 steel.
