The authors consider different methods to model access level networks. Several technologies for wireless networks and networks based on wires are considered. The main considerations are given to different problems related to the aggregation and splitting of traffic in the star-shaped part of a network. A number of approaches and principles for modeling protocols of random and multiple access are discussed. Different methods to detect and prevent such networks from collisions are analyzed.
