In this interesting survey, the author discusses the \textit{J. P. Lasalle} conjecture [The stability of dynamical systems. SIAM, Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. 76 p. (1976; Zbl 0364.93002)] and the \textit{G. R. Belitskij} and \textit{Yu. I. Lyubich} conjecture [Matrix norms and their applications. Birkhäuser Verlag. viii, 209 p. (1988; Zbl 0645.15019)], referring to so-called Picard operators in Banach spaces.
