MATLAB (matrix laboratory), trademark of The MathWorks, is a multi-paradigm platform-independent numerical computing environment, which has successfully been used in industry and academia for over 30 years. The present book is meant to be a compact, still complete compendium for all kinds of MATLAB users on all levels. Thus, it contains an introduction on MATLAB as well as advanced features. An introduction with first steps, graphical user interface and useful commands starts the presentation. Commands, operators, matrices and numerical arrays, string functions, and polynomials are covered next. Further topics are data analysis, MATLAB as a programming language, linear algebra, differential equations, sparse matrices and mathematical functions, 2-D and 3-D graphics, advanced graphics, properties of graphical objects. The last chapters are on file handling and data management, Audio- and Video applications, data classes and objects, testing, as well as the integration of FORTRAN, C, or JAVA and MS-Windows. This book from 2016 is the 6th edition and covers the MATLAB-Version 8.6 (R2015b); the current version of MATLAB is 9.2 (R2016). Many examples help to quickly understand the features of the environment. Due to its content and presentation style the book can be recommended for students and practitioners; however, it is written in German.
