In this book the author treats dynamics of flexible multibody systems. In the derivation of the equations of motion the author uses Kane's method. Detailed explanation is given in which the advantages of the Kane's method are presented. The presentation in the book is divided into 12 Chapters. Also it contains two Appendices.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEIn the first Chapter the derivation of equations of motion is presented. In the second Chapter an analysis of a concrete example of the dynamics of the shuttle-tethered satellite is presented. In Chapter 3 the Kane's method of linearization is applied to the dynamics of beam motion, while in Chapter 4 the dynamics of plate motion is presented. Chapter 5 contains the analysis of arbitrary flexible body in large motion. In Chapter 6 the author presents an analysis of multibody dynamics. In Chapter 7 the problem of selection of modes and model reduction in order to get reliable results with as few modes as possible is presented. In Chapter 8 a computational efficient algorithm for simulation of the motion of flexible multibody dynamical systems is developed. Chapter 9 deals with simplification of equations of motion by introduction of generalized speeds defined in Appendix 1. In Chapter 10 the author presents a specific simplification of the block-diagonal formulation presented in Chapter 8. In Chapter 11 the author presents an analysis of a specific problem important for a spacecraft and underwater vehicle doing seafloor mine search. Finally, in Chapter 12 the system of equations for flexible rocket dynamics is presented.NEWLINENEWLINE The book is intended for readers with backgrounds in rigid body dynamics and structural dynamics. It is well written and may be useful for structural engineers and researchers in applied mechanics.
