Fréchet similarity of closed polygonal curves (Q2809314)

In this paper, the similarity of closed polygonal curves with respect to the Fréchet metric is analyzed. This metric is stronger than the well-known Hausdorff metric and therefore is more appropriate in some applications. In the paper an algorithm is described that determines whether the Fréchet distance between two closed polygonal curves is less than a given number \(\varepsilon\). The algorithm works in \(O(mn)\) time, where \(m\) and \(n\) are the numbers of vertices of these two curves, respectively.
