The paper is related to the geometric theory of analytic functions. Let \(\mathcal {A}\) denote the class of analytic functions in \(\mathbb {U}:=\{z\in \mathbb {C}\: | z | <1\}\). The authors investigate a generalization of the class \(S_{b}^{\ast}\) of starlike functions of complex order \(b\) introduced by \textit{M. A. Nasr} and \textit{M. K. Aouf} [J. Natur. Sci. Math. 25, No. 1, 1--12, (1985; Zbl 0596.30017)]. They consider the class of functions \(f\in \mathcal {A}\) (\(f(0) =0,\;f^{\prime}(0)=1)\) for which the transformation of the Dziok-Raina operator [\textit{J. Dziok} and \textit{R. K. Raina}, Demonstratio Math. 37, No. 3, 533--542 (2004; Zb; 1058.30014)] is in the class \(S_{b}^{\ast}\).NEWLINENEWLINEWe say that a function \(f\in \mathcal {A}\) is majorized by a function \(F\in \mathcal {A}\), and write \(f(z)\ll F(z)\) (or simply \(f\ll F\)) if there exists a function \(\phi \in \mathcal {A}\), \(| \phi (z)| <1\), such that \(f(z) =\phi (z) F(z) ,\;z\in \mathbb {U}\). The main object of the paper is to consider some problems of majorization in the defined class of functions. Connections with previous corresponding known results are also mentioned.
