This is an exact reproduction of the text originally published in 1953. The author's aim was to present the logic of the Old Stoa. Through six chapters and two appendices, the book deals with the Stoic semantical theory and compares it with certain similar modern theories, attempts to give a deeper account of the heretofore misunderstood Diodorean implication, points out the Stoic version of the conditionalization principle, and discusses the contention of the Stoics that their propositional logic was complete. This book presents one of cornerstones of the modern analysis of the ancient logic.
