The author considers a Galois cover of compact Riemann surfaces and deduces several results on the decomposition of their Jacobians. The techniques are purely analytical, passing through the torus representation of the Jacobians and the article is very expository. Among interesting results, there is a discussion on the existence of linear systems invariant by the Galois action.
