In the present paper, the authors investigate the time-crises optimal control problem, i.e. a problem with discontinuous cost functional which prevents the direct use of Pontryagins maximum principle. The authors overcome this difficulty by the application of regularization techniques. It is shown that Pontryagins maximum principle can be applied to the regularized problem leading to a convergence theorem for the original problem if the regularization parameter tends to zero.NEWLINENEWLINE Finally, an example illustrating the convergence of the regularized problem and the numerical solution of a time-crises optimal control problem are presented.
