The author gives an example of a compact linear operator associated with an orthonormal system in a Hilbert space that fails to generate a Banach frame for the underlying space. He then introduces a compact linear operator associated with an orthonormal system of solutions of a certain boundary problem in \(L^2(a,b)\) and shows that it does generate a Banach frame.
