This paper introduces an associated Poisson structure for classical field theories via the deformation quantization formalism. First, the authors review the main definitions and results about deformation quantization theory. Then the causal Poisson structure for field theory is introduced. A generalized version of Wick's theorem is obtained. Some explicit examples are given. For the nonlinear particle case, the authors obtain also a well-behaved causal bracket using Green's functions.
