Chimera regimes in a ring of elements with local unidirectional interaction (Q2821434)

The authors carry out a numerical study of a ring of unidirectionally coupled modified Ikeda oscillators described by the system NEWLINE\[NEWLINE \varepsilon \frac{dx_j}{dt} = - \delta y_j - x_j + k f(x_{j-1}), \quad \frac{dy_j}{dt} = x_j,\qquad j=1,\dots,N, NEWLINE\]NEWLINE where NEWLINE\[NEWLINE f(x) = \frac{\beta}{1 + m \sin^2(x + \Phi_0)}. NEWLINE\]NEWLINE They identify parameter values for which this system displays traveling chimera-like patterns, i.e. spatio-temporal patterns characterized by spatially intermittent coherent and incoherent behavior.
