The authors analyze the derivation of the electromagnetic ponederomotive force in moving media in a consistent way from the viewpoint of Abraham's and Minkowski's approaches. As a result, they derived a new expression for the ponderomotive force that is considered as a generalization of the known Abraham force for static media which can now be applied to moving media as well.
