The author describes a condensed working ``behaviour'' of Karl Menger (1902--1985) during his stay (due to tuberculosis) in the sanatorium Aflenz from 1922 and upto 1923. The work of Menger and his ideas on dimension theory are compared to those of others, while contemporary mathematicians are also mentioned and discussed. This little paper contains nevertheless an extensive literature list, view it! Noting the publication year 2012 of this paper, it is worth to mention the contents of the author's dissertation [Die Genese des Mengerschen Dimensionsbegriffes im Spannungsverhältnis von Ökonomie, Mathematik und Philosophie. Wien: Universität Wien (Diss.) (2012)]. He also hopes to inform future readers about Menger's years in Amsterdam (1925--1927), next his years in Vienna until his emigration in 1937. Finally, the author hopes to write an ``intellectual biography'' (his words). All these intentions are mentioned in this 2012 paper by the author at the end.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1321.01006].
