The descriptive set theory of the Cantor space \(2^\omega\) and Baire space \(\omega^\omega\) is a very well-understood subject to say the least. However, the analogous statement for the \textit{generalized Cantor space} \(2^\kappa\) and \textit{generalized Baire space} \(\kappa^\kappa\) (for \(\kappa\) an uncountable regular cardinal) is far from true. This article gives a brief survey of what is known in this area of \textit{generalized descriptive set theory} and then proceeds to enumerate a long list of open problems that arose from two workshops held on the subject.
