Based on the distortion method of a thin shell using the Kirchhoff-Love theory, a problem of elastic equilibrium of an orthotropic shell with a cut along the screw curve is reduced to a system of singular integral equations. The effect of orthotropy, orientation and length of the cut on the efforts and moments intensity factors is studied.
