Leibniz and virtuality (English)

The author clarifies the positions of G. W. Leibniz about virtuality and its relation to scholastic thinkers. This interesting research looks for the use of the term virtual in Leibniz' philosophical and scientific writings and shows that the occurrences of the term are limited in number and that when Leibniz used the term, it was in the same way as scholastic thinkers did. For example, he claims that although virtuality is frequently associated with arithmetics and geometry, Leibniz rarely uses it except when he discusses the theory of equations. He also concludes that the concept of virtuality of innate knowledge is extended to all the ideas and in his few remarks about this, Leibniz redeems the concept.
