The book is intended to serve as a reference source for a graduate students and engineers. It consists of nine chapters devoted to: review of matrix analysis, review of methods of analysis in structural mechanics, solution of system of linear equations, iterative methods for linear systems, conjugate gradient methods, solution methods for systems of nonlinear equations, eigenvalue solution methods, integration, and generalized difference method.NEWLINENEWLINEThe title suggests that the main topic of this book is to treat numerically problems in mechanics. However, only one chapter is devoted to the discussion of some basics of the finite element method and related areas. The majority of the contents represents the standard material on numerical analysis which can be found in many textbooks. The collection of methods is applicable to many computational methods in science, medicine, numerical mathematical modeling, differential equations, etc. Without a doubt, an advantage of this book is to present some engineering examples. Clever graduate students find this textbook as an introduction and invitation to more advanced topics not treated in the book.NEWLINENEWLINEThe accompanying book is [\textit{J. Ghaboussi} et al., Nonlinear computational solid mechanics. Boca Raton, FL: CRC Press (2017; Zbl 1381.74001)].
