The author studies transport and quantum phase transition properties for the quasi-free fermionic system over the two-sided discrete line associated to the isotropic XY spin chain. He works in the operator algebraic approach to quantum statistical mechanics in which a physical system is defined by an algebra of observables, a group of time evolution automorphisms, and a normalized positive linear state functional on this algebra. In this framework, the author introduces the concept of magnetic NESS (non-equilibrium steady state) some properties of which are displayed. The entropy production rate is obtained and the non-equilibrium quantum phase transition is analyzed.
