Let \(R\) be a semiprime ring and let \(f\:R\to R\) be an additive map satisfying \(f(x)x^n + x^nf(x)=0\) for all \(x\in R\) and some fixed positive integer \(n\). Using results on functional identities it is proved that \(f=0\), provided that \(R\) is \(n!\)-torsion free.
