In this paper, the authors consider a general from of third-order differential equations of neutral type with positive and negative coefficients. The goal is to obtain sufficient conditions which ensure that the solutions are oscillatory or tends to zeros as \(t\) goes to infinity. The main results are obtained by using the Riccati technique which is a reduction method. The results generalize several results in the topic and some illustrative examples are presented. However one can see that the coefficient of the negative term does not exist in the main oscillation condition and the condition of \((H7)\) of \(q(t)\) is a restrictive conditions and can be improved.
