For the Helmholtz equation the authors propose a new formulation of a boundary condition for the volume potential. A solution to the inhomogeneous Helmholtz equation in a bounded domain with sufficiently smooth boundary is obtained for boundary conditions which imply suppressing the reflected waves. Inside a bounded domain this solution coincides with the solution for an unbounded domain with the Sommerfeld radiation condition.
