The authors investigate the stability of a homogeneously stressed plate which is fastened on an elastic base. The a critical load is unambiguously determined by the linear equation of bifurcation. A multitude of forms of stability loss corresponds to a critical load value. The buckling value satisfies the Helmholtz equation.
