Conditions are formulated under which special surface waves and special body waves are of either \(TM\)- or \(TE\)-type generated in semi-bounded photon crystal due to the Tamm mechanism. This is accompanied by a four-time amplification of the evanescence of the wave intensity of the corresponding polarization.
