The paper under review deals with the classification of surfaces of general type with minimal Euler-Poincaré characteristic. The author proves that they must be fake projective planes unless \(h^{1,0}(S)=1\). This can happen only in two cases, up to biholomorphisms, which are also conjugate of one another. The surfaces and their properties are explicitly described.
