A numerical modeling of instability development in a wide range of wavelengths is performed for a simple shear flow of a two-layers system of Newtonian liquids. The conditions of transition between two asymptotic solutions corresponding to the long- and short-wavelength perturbations, are found. The inertial displacement of the flow velocity perturbation whirls is proportional to the perturbation amplitude growth rate at the layers interface.
