The paper discusses formal deformations of Lie algebras over a formal base, i.e. over a complete local \(\mathbf K\)-algebra with residue field \(\mathbf K\). For a formal deformation of a Lie algebra structure on a given vector space, the notion of an \textit{algebraically non-singular deformation} is introduced. If such a deformation is given by a singular curve in the base space, it is said to be geometrically singular. The authors construct algebraically singular deformations. They find an example of a geometrically singular deformation in the infinite dimensional case.
