This is the third revised edition of the textbook published by CRC Press in 1991 [Zbl 0757.26002] and in 2005 [Zbl 1056.26001].NEWLINENEWLINEThe author provided an essential revision of the previous editions in order to make the textbook more accessible and readable for students. For this, the book was reorganized. Now it start with 11 chapters (1 to 10 and 12) which can create an undergraduate course on analysis. The chapters themselves are written more straightforward and are simplified with respect to those in previous editions. Some material which is difficult to understand is either moved to the end of the book (as appendices) or is deleted from the book.NEWLINENEWLINEAnyway one can note that this edition retains the combinations of two main features characteristic for the previous one. Namely, the book serves as a textbook on the most essential parts of real analysis. From the other side, it introduces many of the creative ideas of analysis.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEIn this form the book looks as a good starting text for the study of analysis and it helps students to be ready to understand much deeper materials of analysis and related mathematical disciplines.
