An approach to formulation of gas dynamics numerical methods based on approximation of nonlinear wave equations of the second order in relation to the time and space variables is presented. Then formulation and investigation 0f discrete models of nonlinear wave equations for one-dimensional gas dynamic problems in Lagrange variables are realized.
