The author obtains an upper bound on the vanishing order of solutions to the Schrödinger equation over a compact smooth manifold. The technique employed relies on Carleman type inequalities and generalizes a result of \textit{H.~Donnelly} and \textit{C.~Fefferman} [Invent. Math. 93, No. 1, 161--183 (1988; Zbl 0659.58047)] on eigenfunctions.
