Recently, wavelet packets and wavelet frame packets on a local field \({\mathbb K}\) of positive characteristic have been constructed [\textit{B.Behera} and \textit{Q. Jahan}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 395, No. 1, 1--14 (2012; Zbl 1247.42034)]. The paper under review is concerned with algorithms for constructing tight wavelet frames in \(L^2(\mathbb K)\) based on the unitary extension principle.
