    The authors study M/G/1 retrial queues with impatient customers. In the first part of the article they survey the existing results concerning the steady state distribution of the system. In the second part they use the principle of maximum entropy for estimating the steady state distribution of the system. To illustrate the accuracy of the principle of maximum entropy, the authors compare the obtained estimates with the classical results in the case of M/M/1 retrial queues.
