The authors study uniqueness of solution to the Cauchy problem for isentropic compressible Euler system in two space dimensions. Pressure is the function of density: \(p=\rho^\gamma\). The main result of the paper states that for \(1\leq \gamma\leq 3\) there exist Riemann data such that some of the infinitely many solutions dissipate more energy than the self-similar solution. This shows that the Dafermos entropy rate criterion can fail to pick the self-similar solution.
