In this paper, the authors obtain a sufficient theorem for a strong minimum of a fixed-endpoint optimal control problem that includes the Legendre-Clebsch necessary condition but not its strengthened form. They use instead a new version of the strengthened Weierstrass condition. As applications of this result, they provide six interesting examples which show that the singular extremal under consideration is in fact a strict local minimum.
