Vladimír Kořínek (1899--1981). (Q2856946)

This paper introduces the first Czech modern algebraist Vladimír Kořínek (1899--1981), whose critical biography was published in [\textit{Z. Kohoutová} and \textit{J. Bečvář}, Vladimír Kořínek, 1899--1981 (Czech). Prague: Research Center for the History of Sciences and Humanities (2005; Zbl 1250.01004)]. He worked in group and lattice theory as well as in mathematical statistics, but is primarily remembered for his educational and organisational activities after the Second World War.
