An error in an earlier paper [Bull. Korean Math. Soc. 48, No. 1, 129--140 (2011; Zbl 1222.53039)] is corrected by noting that one needs to add an extra condition to the hypothesis of Theorem 1.2 in that paper.NEWLINENEWLINEAdditionally, a new result is proved: The fundamental group of a closed oriented \(4\)-dimensional Riemannian manifold with positive isotropic curvature does not contain a subgroup isomorphic to the fundamental group of a compact Riemann surface of genus greater than or equal to 2.
