This paper studies the uniqueness problem for entire functions sharing a non-zero finite value with a linear differential polynomial.NEWLINENEWLINEThe authors point out a serious lacuna in the proof of a theorem by \textit{P. Li} [J. Univ. Sci. Technol. China 29, No. 4, 387--393 (1999; Zbl 1128.30304)]. Then they prove a modified version of a theorem earlier obtained by \textit{W. Wang} and \textit{P. Li} [Complex Variables, Theory Appl. 49, No. 11, 821--832 (2004; Zbl 1081.30031)] which is an improvement of P. Li's result. Since there is only a scanty number of papers in this particular sub-field of uniqueness theory, definitely this paper will be helpful to the researchers working in the field. Some complicated calculations and critical analysis are involved in the paper.
