Strongly torsion free acts over monoids. (English)
0 references
The authors characterize monoids whose acts, cyclic acts, monocyclic acts, Rees factor acts are strongly torsion free. An \(S\)-act \(A_S\) is called strongly torsion free if for any \(a,b\in A_S\) and any (not necessarily right cancellable) \(s\in S\), \(as=bs\) implies \(a=b\). For example, all \(S\)-acts, all cyclic \(S\)-acts, all monocyclic \(S\)-acts have this property iff \(S\) is a group.
