The author shows that boundedness of entanglement entropy for pure states of bipartite quantum spin systems implies split a property of subsystems. A byproduct of this result is the validity of the split property with respect to left and right semi-infinite subsystems for translationally invariant pure ground states with spectral gap of one-dimensional quantum spin chains.
