Stabilized Stokes elements and local mass conservation (English)

The stabilization of lowest-order Stokes finite elements is discussed. The authors derive error estimates in terms of stabilization parameters. Numerical tests show that the proposed estimates are indeed sharp. Local mass conservation properties are also analyzed, and pressure enhancement modifications are studied. Numerical tests illustrate the theoretical results for continuous and discontinuous pressure solutions.
