Stress state of hollow cylinders with a convex corrugated cross-section (English)

The authors consider a spatial formulation of the problem on equilibrium of hollow cylinders whose cross-section has the shape of connected semi-corrugations. The cross-section is given by a continuous curve being a shortened epicycloid. The problem is solved by a numerical-analytical approach based on the application of the methods of separation of variables and function approximations by the discrete Fourier series and the numerical method of discrete orthogonalization. The results are presented in the form of plots of the distribution of stress and displacement fields.
