Common fixed points for asymptotic pointwise nonexpansive mappings (English)

A common fixed point theorem for a commuting family of asymptotic pointwise nonexpansive mappings in a uniformly convex Banach space is established. Weak and strong convergence of an iterative sequence determined by two asymptotic pointwise nonexpansive mappings to a common fixed point are studied. These results extend the corresponding results of \textit{W. A. Kirk} and \textit{H.-K. Xu} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl., Ser. A, Theory Methods 69, No. 12, 4706--4712 (2008; Zbl 1172.47038)], \textit{S. H. Khan} and \textit{W. Takahashi} [Sci. Math. Jpn. 53, No. 1, 143--148 (2001; Zbl 0985.47042)] and \textit{W. M. Kozlowski} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 377, No. 1, 43--52 (2011; Zbl 1210.47096)].
