Exact query reformulation over databases with first-order and description logics ontologies (English)

The paper puts forward a framework for database query reformulation by a first-order ontology under a locally-closed world presumption, where database predicates are closed.NEWLINENEWLINEThe framework provides conditions for the existence of a safe-range reformulation, which can be assessed as a relational algebra query that outputs the same response as the original one. An application of the proposed framework in the ALCHOIQ description logic is also discussed.NEWLINENEWLINEFrom my research perspective, what I find most interesting about the future directions of this study is the idea of selecting, from the many possible reformulations of the original query, an optimal one while having to deal with actually many existing criteria.
