Rayleigh acoustic scattering from a torus (English)

The paper examines the scattering of acoustic plane waves on both soft and hard tori. The formulas are derived under the constraint that the wavelength is much larger than the diameter of the torus. As the author recognizes himself, this derivation is limited, especially from the practical point of view. Going further into the problem in order to consider the wavelengths closer to the diameter of the torus is probably too difficult, but opens the door for other phenomena in the multiple scattering theory for a set of tori as scatterers, probably considering an axially symmetric structure.NEWLINENEWLINEReviewer's remark. I do not share the optimistic prediction of the author about the detection of infrasound produced by avalanches in the Alpes in the tunnel of the LHC. I think there are other physical phenomena to be considered in this case that affect the scattering, i.e. the solution achieved. Anyway, it would be a beautiful experiment.
