Volume 12 of the collected papers of Einstein appeared in 2009 (see [Zbl 1173.01011; Zbl 1173.01012]), now three years later, the next volume is published. It covers the time of fifteen months, beginning in January 1922 and ending with March 1923. On the cover there is a very nice photo: ``Einstein and Elsa, at residence of Kaizo publisher Sanehiko Yamamoto, Tokyo, November 1922''. The introduction (pp. XXXIII--LXXVIII) contains a detailed report on Einstein's life during these 15 months, where he visited Paris and Leyden, and in autumn 1922 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. However, he did not attend the ceremony, since in October 1922 he was traveling to the Far East, the Near East and Spain, and he did not return until late March 1923. The main part of this volume is his travel diary (pp. 532--588). This volume includes as a supplement documents from the period 1910--1921 which were not included in the previous volumes: these are 10 writings and 19 letters (pp. 3--49). The main part (pp. 50--750) consists in 458 documents: 36 of these are writings, most of which are popular lectures, discussions and reports by others. After this, there follows an alphabetical list of correspondences (pp. 753--770), a chronology (pp. 771--782) as well as a calendar of abstracts (pp. 783--832). The nine appendices (pp. 833--891) contain: an interview with Einstein (April 10, 1922), in which Einstein discusses his theory, his lecture on light emission in Amsterdam (April 29, 1922), a speech at the reception in Singapore (November 3, 1922), a lecture at Keio University (November 22 and 23, 1922), a speech at the Jewish reception in Shanghai (January 3, 1923), notes in Palestine (February 1923), lectures at the University of Madrid (March 1923) and the honorary doctorate speech at the University of Madrid (March 8, 1923). At the end, the reader finds the cited literature (pp. 893--919) and the indexes (pp. 921--980). As usual, this volume is of excellent quality with respect to the printing, the contents, and the illustrations.
