6-folds

The authors construct 6-folds called diptych varieties. These varieties are constructed to extend toric 4-fold (partial) smoothings of reducible affine surfaces called tents. The main motivation is that the canonical cover of a Mori-flip of type A can be obtained as a pullback from a diptych variety. This point will be used in the forthcoming article of the authors (now available online as a preprint ``Diptych varieties, IV: Mori flips of Type A'') to describe the canonical \(\mathbb{C}^\times\) cover of Mori flips of type A.
