The reviewed paper is a short survey of the present status of the Lee-Yang theorem in which a few applications are presented by means of some novel arguments. Namely, it is shown that for lattice systems of statistical mechanics satisfying a Lee-Yang property, the connected correlation functions are analytic functions of an external magnetic field. As applications of the results to classical spin systems and Euclidean field theories, the uniqueness of the thermodynamic limit of the correlation functions for a large class of boundary conditions is proven.
