A note on travelling waves in competitive reaction systems (English)

The author considers the asymptotic approximation of the full fourth-order equations describing traveling wave in an endothermic-exothermic reaction system. The material diffusion is neglected. Reaction rates depend on the temperature in the Arrhenius way. Due to these assumptions, the full analysis on the phase plane is possible. The adiabatic case with Newtonian cooling to the ambient temperature is also studied. The explicit formula for the propagation of the travelling wave front is obtained. The results are compared with numerical solutions to the full system.
