Exterior homotopy extends proper homotopy theory for studying non-compact manifolds and infinite CW-complexes. It retains not only the information on the classical homotopy type of the space, but also the homotopy type of the ends of the space. In this setting, there are natural analogues of classical cohomology theories which extend compactly supported cohomology to the exterior setting.NEWLINENEWLINEThis paper discusses these exterior cohomology theories and proves an exterior version of the E. H. Brown representation theorem.
